EMI Africa was formed after Emily spent 5 months volunteering at a children's home in South Africa. The children's home was filled with incredible joy and excitement, yet the children were often bored. Emily soon found that the children absolutely loved books but did not have daily access to them. She started reading to them every night, and their love of reading grew. There was a great need for books, so when Emily returned to the United States, she started to gather donated books. Soon thereafter, EMI Africa was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) organization to raise awareness of literacy needs and provide books to children in South Africa and Uganda.
EMI Africa (Empower, Motivate, Inspire) is committed to helping children in South Africa and Uganda access their passion by providing them with donated books and activity packets.
Your support and contributions will enable us to provide books and activity packets to under-served children in Africa!
